Ideas to Decorate Your Walls

There’s a space crunch everywhere. You can’t buy things to clutter your home and your creative mind is working overtime trying to figure out some out of the box ways to put your décor style on display. The blank walls of your house are where you need to focus your attention. It’s time to bring about a change in the look of the walls where you have hung up the same old paintings for a long time now.

Walls of the house are a perfect way to start transforming the look of your home. If you have just shifted to a new place or you are bored of the old walls of your house then look for ideas to reinvent the appearance of your home. Don’t just limit yourself to colours and textured wallpapers.

With a little bit of imagination and a pinch of creativity, your walls can be your display pride. Here is a list of some amazing ideas to dress up and decorate a wall that has been giving you the blues for a long time now.

1. Musical instrument– If you are an ardent music lover and you spend your time playing the guitar and listening to songs on CDs then you could put them up on display. It will give your room the look it needs, classy and musical.

2. Flowers– If you are a flower person then you could get some flowers take a recycled bottle and put the flowers into it. You could then hang the bottle up on the wall.

3. Hang up a scarf– To implement this you must first get a scarf that looks like art. Then you must iron it and hang it on the wall. You could also get it framed. It will give your room a very creative and abstract look. You could also get a piece of fabric or a wallpaper sample and hang it up after getting it framed.

4. DIY Art– Everyone has an artist hidden inside. To create your piece of beautiful abstract art all you have to do is get a masking tape, canvas and paint. Put on the masking tape on the canvas in any pattern you want and after you are finished patterning paint over the whole thing. Rip off the tape and you will get a wonderfully patterned canvas.

7. Washi Tape-If you are the type of person who easily gets bored and likes to change the look of your walls more frequently, then you could decorate it with patterns using a washi tape. They come in different colours and can be easily removed. You could use them to make a variety of patterns in an array of colours to brighten up the look of your room.

8. Photographs– You could create an art gallery of your own by printing your favourite photographs and framing them in basic frames of different sizes. You could then hang them at various heights and distances from each other or all together for the perfect look.

9. Coffee Filters– You can collect a lot of coffee filters and dye them in your favourite colour or a colour that you think will go best with the wall you intend to use them on. You can then stick them on the wall with glue in a random pattern to give a brilliant 3D effect. You could also use cupcake covers for creating a similar effect.

10. Vintage Map Frames– To give your room a classic look representing the adventurer you could collect some big maps, get them framed and hang them on the wall. The maps can display your hometown or the place you have visited or intend to visit.

11. Papier Mache– Using the Art of Papier Mache you could create alphabets and paint them using a spray paint to create coloured alphabets. You can hang them on the wall to either display a message or your name or just anything you want.

12. Sequin– Thank the person who invented sequins. You can decorate your wall with sequins. It does require time and effort but the outcome is worth it.

  • First you’ll need to get a foam board of the size you want to cover your wall with, masking tape, sequin pins and of course sequin.
  • To start with the decoration you first need to tape the foam board to the wall and cover it with a coloured wrapping paper (preferably gold or silver).
  • Then you need to start sticking in the sequins one by one using the sequin pin into the foam board.
  • The time you take to finish the task will depend upon the size of the sequin and the area of the wall you have to cover.

Once you are done, you will have a wonderfully decorated wall and a brilliant bling added to the décor of your house.

13. Shoebox showcase– You could decorate the wall of your house with shoe boxes.

  • All you need for this is a shoebox, a spray paint and an adhesive.
  • Spray paint on all sides of the shoebox including the inner sides.
  • When the paint has dried, you could make patterns or stick the wallpaper on the inner side.
  • Then you need to stick them to the wall using the adhesive and leave to dry.
  • When you are sure that the shoebox is firmly stuck you can put in it some light weight items for display.

You can create as many cabinets in different colours and sizes as long as you have shoeboxes.

14. Mirrors– What suits a wall better than a mirror? You could give you room a seamless look by hanging a cluster of mirrors together. Take five to six mirrors of different shapes and sizes and hang them up together in the centre or the corner of the wall.

15. Floating shelves– If you have floating shelves then you can put beautiful small vases on display. If you don’t, then all you need is a small plank of wood, wallpaper and an adhesive. You could also paint the plank using a spray paint and stick it to the wall using the adhesive to create your floating shelves.
