Eating habits to cut down on Belly Fat

In today’s world, everyone is so busy with their daily chores that they don’t pay attention to their health. A Recent study shows that Fifty-four percent of U.S. adults have central obesity that is popularly called belly fat. This study also tells that the average waist of a U.S. citizen has also increased to an average 38.8 inches which is 1 inch more in about a dozen years.

Also known as visceral fat, belly fat is said to be the most dangerous type of fat. Now the question comes why is this fat so dangerous? It is because this deadly fat can cause diabetes, heart diseases, high blood pressure, etc. by wrapping around the organs deep in your abdomen. This danger makes it the prime duty of every person towards his body to cut down on it.

With demanding personal and professional schedules, taking time out for exercise is tough. What we can do is change out eating habits because it is what we eat that reflects in our body.

Here’s a list of some eating habits that will aid in cutting down on belly fat:

  1. The deadly diet soda: Recent studies shows that people who drink two or more diet sodas in a day notice an increase in their waist size. This increase is six times more than those people who don’t drink diet sodas. Diet soda contains deceptively sweet artificial sweeteners in them which trick the metabolism to think that sugar is on its way. Then metabolism spikes insulin levels and shifts the body from a fat-burning state to a fat-storing state that causes the increment of belly fat.
  2. Change the way of eating: The stomach has receptors that react in a different manner if you overeat. The work of these receptors is to tell the brain when your stomach is full. If you are overeating then, you are slowing down their response. Slowing down their response time will make your overeating look like a normal activity. So, eat in small chunks and eat food that takes less time to get digested.
  3. Eat foods that reduce belly fat:
    • (A) Almonds: – Almonds look tiny, but they are powerhouses of healthy nutrients. This tiny food contains vitamin E and protein, in them but instead of that, but they are also rich in fibre content that helps you to stay full for a longer duration. Although they are slightly high in calories, they do not contribute to belly fat. So keep eating almonds as snacks to control your hunger.
    • (B) Apples: An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apple makes you avoid overeating as they contain fibre. If you eat apples, your belly feels full which avoids over eating. Besides all of this it also fills your body with amazing nutrients.
    • (C) Green leafy vegetables: If you want to have a flat tummy instantly then fill you plate with green leafy vegetables. Green leafy vegetables contain very low calories, are full of fibre and also contain vitamin and minerals.
  4. Start eating walnuts: Baked goods and red meat contains saturated fats in it. Saturated fats increase the storage of fat in the belly while polyunsaturated fats activate genes that reduce fat storage and also improves metabolism of insulin. So eat walnut as they contain polyunsaturated fat in them.
  5. Start drinking green tea: Researches have shown that drinking green tea cuts down belly fat while drinking too much coffee has an opposite effect. What makes green tea so waist friendly??? Green tee contains compounds called catechins, belly-fat crusaders that blast the adipose tissue by reviving the metabolism that increases the release of fat from fat cells, particularly in the belly. It also speeds up liver’s fat burning capacity. All this leads to cutting down on belly fat.
  6. Sprinkle pepper on your meals: Piperine is a powerful compound found in black pepper and is also knows as fat blasting ninja. Piperine has also been used earlier in medicines to treat people suffering from tummy problems and inflammation. Piperine also causes a reaction known as adipogenesis in the body which results in a decrease in waist size and also decreases body fat and cholesterol levels.
  7. Start using coconut oil instead of cooking oil: Recent studies show that a person’s waist circumference can be reduced by 1.1 inches over a month if the person consumes just two tablespoons of coconut oil per day. Animal sources of saturated fat contain long chain fatty acids which raise cholesterol while coconut oil doesn’t. It is more likely to be burned as energy instead of being stored as blubber.
  8. Start drinking milk regularly: Recent studies done by the McMaster University of Canada shows that if a person drinks milk regularly and also does exercise then he can lose belly fat more quickly.
  9. Sunflower seeds: Sunflower seeds contain healthy fatty acids in them. This fatty acid stops the storage of fat in the tummy by keeping a check on blood sugar spikes.
  10. Start having fruits that contain citrus acid: Citrus acids slows down the digestion process of the body. As the digestion process slows down you will not feel hungry for a long duration of time, and you can take longer breaks between your meals. This is how it prevents overeating that is one of the major cause of belly fat.

The human body is a temple where the soul resides. Take care of it, it is the only one you have!
